Academics Overview
The Academic Program at Collins Academy High School includes the following:
- College Prep: classes designed for college preparation; honors options and AP available after freshman year
- Graduation Requirements: English (6 years), fine arts (2), history (3), math (5), science (3), Spanish (2), as well as other courses, activities
- Counselor Program: one counselor for each grade level to provide social and academic help
- Daily Schedule: block scheduling allows for hands-on work and inquiry-based lessons
- Smaller Learning Communities: teachers, students, and residents meet regularly to reflect on their practice and assist in goal setting
- Seminar Classes: school and life skills curriculum, along with college and career awareness and service learning work, for 9th and 10th graders; college prep and internships for 11th and 12th graders
- Technology: integrated into the coursework through classroom laptops
